Mark Jaffe, MD
Board certified rheumatologist. More than thirty years looking after South Florida joints, bones and immune systems.

A specialty of long relationships.
Dr. Jaffe trained in rheumatology at New York Medical College and practiced in New York before moving south. He has cared for patients in South Florida ever since, and many of the patients he sees today have been with him for years.
Rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, osteoporosis and gout tend to stay with a person for life, and they behave differently in every body. Seeing the same patient year after year is what makes it possible to treat them well, because Dr. Jaffe knows how their disease moves, what has worked before and what is not worth trying again.
Three essentials shape every appointment.

He listens first
Rheumatic disease rarely announces itself clearly. The story of how the pain started, when it is worst and what makes it ease is usually worth more than any single test, so the first appointment is mostly conversation.

He explains in plain language
You should leave the office knowing what your diagnosis is, what your medication does, what to watch for and when you will be seen again. If something is not clear, ask.

He treats proportionately
Not every sore joint needs a biologic. Treatment starts with what the disease calls for and steps up only when it needs to, which keeps side effects and cost down.
Most of the conditions we treat stay with a person for life. So do the relationships.
